FRAG srl is seeking a Fire Fighting Engineer to join the Loss Prevention Department (LPD) at the office of the Client.
The candidate will have to work with the Facilities Planning Department, Project Management, and operating facilities in these areas to provide technical guidance on the facilities design requirements pertaining to fire prevention and fire protection areas, including, but not limited to, firewater systems, fireproofing, emergency shutdown systems, drainage systems, tank designs, electrical classifications, pipeline design factors, equipment access and layout, spacing, risk areas, etc.
Main Responsibilities:
- Developing and/or applying Engineering Standards related to safety and fire prevention in Oil&Gas and Petrochemical facility design (e.g., NFPA, API).
- Developing corporate policy and philosophy on fire prevention for Executive Management approval and implementing policy decisions.
- Insurance risk surveys of Oil&Gas facilities for adequacy of design, operations, and maintenance.
- Provide technical guidance and develop procedures for all Company organizations on fire prevention and safety in facilities design and related operational requirements.
- Review all new projects to ensure conformance to Engineering Standards; represent the department at project proposal meetings, followed by continuing guidance through design, construction, and commissioning.
- Provide companywide technical guidance and assistance during technical fire/safety in design-related surveys of the Client’s facilities for adequacy of design, operations, and maintenance.
- Keep current with the latest developments in fire prevention technology, industry standards and practices, and new equipment and materials.
- Analyze fires and other incidents in Saudi Aramco to determine causes and whether Company standards or other requirements require updates or changes, or whether other remedial measures should be considered. Also review reports of incidents worldwide for similar consideration.
- Initiate and participate in studies to resolve problems outside currently available technology. Participate on task forces and study groups assigned to resolve specific problems.
- Develop scope of necessary training programs for department and other personnel in field of process safety and fire prevention engineering, and provide training assistance as required.
- Use hazard analysis techniques to identify corporate risk exposure and develop cost-effective countermeasures.
- Assist in surveys of the Client’s operations by insurance, government, and other outside agencies, as the Company's expert on fire prevention and B Series Standard requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline or Fire Protection Engineering.
- At least 7 years of experience in engineering, include addressing technical safety and fire prevention engineering issues.
- Professional Engineering certification in Fire Protection or advanced degree is preferred.
- Experience in the design of Oil & Gas facilities with a focus on the design of firewater systems, emergency shutdown systems, fireproofing, gas detection, electrical classifications, pipeline design factors, tank design, and plant layout.
- Previous experience in LNG project is preferred
